Lansky Knife Sharpener-Lansky Hones; Extra-Coarse and Coarse, Medium, Fine and Ultra-Fine, and Super SapphireLansky original replacement or upgrade hones, aluminum oxide knife sharpening hones (Aluminum oxide = MOHS Hardness 9.0 / Diamond = MOHS Hardness 10.0)Lansky Knife Sharpener Hones are mounted on color coded holders that are finger grooved for slip resistance, and embossed with the stone grade for easy identification. Hones do not include guide rods, please order separately. Lansky Man Made (aluminum oxide) hones are offered in 6 grades. 1. 70 grit Extra Coarse Hone, with black holder, is used for fast cutting of extremely dull and deteriorated edges. Provides fast removal of stock, but does not sharpen. 2. 120 grit Coarse Hone, with red holder, is used to start edges on all types of knives. Produces the fastest cutting edge. 3. 280 grit Medium Hone, with green holder, is used to maintain a fine sharp edge on all knives. 4. 600 grit Fine Hone, with blue holder, is used for finishing a sharp edge, and for touch ups. 5. 1000 grit Ultra Fine Hone, with yellow holder, is a high alumina ceramic hone, that is used as a finishing hone for blades that are already sharp. 6. 2000 grit Super Sapphire Polishing Hone, with metallic blue holder, is used for the final polishing of an already sharp blade for the ultimate finish. |
