KA-BAR Knives: KABAR Mark I Knife, KA-2221

The illustrated KABAR Knife is the KABAR Mark I Knife that features a 5 1/8" clip point fixed blade made of 1095 cro-van carbon steel, with a Rockwell hardness of 56-58. The blade of this KABAR Knife has a flat grind and a non reflective black epoxy powder coat. The black Kraton G handle has a black metal butt cap and guard. A hard plastic sheath with lashing slots and holes is included with this KABAR Knife. The KABAR Mark I Knife with plain edge blade has an overall length of 9 3/16" and it weighs .45 pounds. Made in the USA.

Great knife for any environment 06/05/2015

I was looking for a Kabar that I can take anywhere - hiking, fishing, camping, canoeing, etc...I already have a USMC fighting knife 7 inch with the leather handle and the small tanto with kraton handle. Both great knives, but each with an issue. The USMC 7" blade is not legal to carry everywhere, and I worried about ruining the leather handle with repeated water exposure - otherwise its the best knife ever. The small tanto's handle is a bit anemic for my hand, and it's not comfortable for hard use. The Mark I with kraton handle eliminates all the issues I have with the other two. The knife appears indestructible and I don't have to worry about ruining it with water, plus it's of legal size to carry. The handle is sized perfectly and is very comfortable. I love Kabar knives and probably will never buy another brand of knife.
