TOPS Knives: TOPS Mountain Lion Knife, TK-MTLN01
The MTLN-01 TOPS Mountain Lion Knife, designed by the TOPS Team with input from members of the famed 10th Mountain Division, is a hardy field knife that features a 5.5 inch recurve drop point fixed blade made of 1095 steel, .250 inch thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 56-58. The blade has a two tone finish with Black Traction Coat and a satin swedge, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, and a pronounced choil for choking up on the blade on precision cuts. The Mountain Lion has full tang construction for strength; ergonomic contouring for secure, comfortable grip, and green and black G10 scales. A black ballistic nylon MOLLE sheath with storage pocket is included. The TOPS Knives Mountain Lion Knife has an overall length of 10.75 inches. Made in the USA.
From the TOPS website: TOPS' creation of the knife known as the Mountain Lion was completed after numerous conversations, design ideas, and input from several retired and active members of the famed 10th Mountain Division. The 10th Mountain Division's (a light infantry division) specialty involves fighting effectively in harsh conditions. It is equipped for hard action in winter and mountain warfare.
It is designed to deploy anywhere in the world, prepared to fight upon arrival, and most importantly, ready to win. It is well-known as a hard-core, highly effective fighting force.
The Mountain Lion knife was made to be tough enough for these guys. Green and Black G10 handles will last even with hard use. The blade shape is made to be effective in tactical / defensive uses, but also accomplish camp chores and other tasks that might be required of an operator in the field.
