The MODIFIED C28FP2K390 Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Lightweight K390 Knife is a new iteration of a classic compact EDC that features an ACID STONEWASH 2.29 inch leaf shaped blade made of Bohler-Uddeholm K390 tool steel, .098 inch thick. The ACID STONEWASHED blade has a full flat grind, a notched thumb ramp for secure grip, and the Spyderco Hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The blue FRN (fiberglass nylon resin) handle has been given a black Rit Dye fade starting from the pivot, which steadily fades toward the clip. The hardware / pocket clip contrasts nicely with our bronze heat color. The MODIFIED Spyderco Dragonfly 2 Lightweight K390 Knife has an overall open length of 5.62 inches, and it weighs 1.2 ounces. Made in Japan.

From the 2020 Spyderco Reveal 5 product guide: Originally released in 1994, the Dragonfly was one of Spyderco's original lightweight knives and helped to introduce the use of injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handles.

Manufactured by Böhler-Uddeholm, K390 MICROCLEAN® is a state-of-the-art cold work tool steel produced by the particle metallurgy process. Its advanced alloy mix was specifically developed to provide the extreme wear resistance and high compressive strength needed in industrial cutting, blanking, and punching operations. Despite its toughness, its exceptionally fine, homogeneous microstructure also makes it readily machinable and easy to heat treat.

Collectively, these qualities make K390 an outstanding blade material for true steel connoisseurs.

As a knife collector I really appreciate unique stuff, but usually regret messing with factory knives, especially from Spyderco. They seem to go out of their way to make things hard on the customer. You guys seem to have broken the code. This isn't my first "Modified" from you and thus far you're batting 1.000. I can acid wash a blade. I can Rit dye an FRN scale. But for a very reasonable premium, I'll let you do it and forgo the mess and possible reassembly problems. This is the Dragonfly I would make myself, so your instincts on what's sought after are spot on. Very satisfied!

Looks just like the picture. Acid wash and dye job was done well. My issue is the action is quite gritty despite working it and the later addition of oil. Not sure if this is overtightened or this is a result of the wash but its no where near as smooth as my factory VG-10 version.
