ESEE Knives: ESEE-RB3-BO Camp-Lore Reuben Bolieu Knife, ESEE-RB3BO

The ESEE-RB3-BO Knife, a Bushcraft knife from the ESEE Camp-Lore Series, designed by Reuben Bolieu, features a 3.5 inch drop point blade made of 1095 carbon steel, .125 inches thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 55-57, a traditional Bushcraft Scandi grind, and a black oxide coat with Camp Lore logo detailing. The RB3-BO has full tang construction for strength; removable micarta scales with rounded contour for secure comfortable grip, and a lanyard hole. A leather pouch sheath is included. The ESEE-RB3-BO Knife has an overall length of 8.13 inches, and it weighs 6.0 ounces without the sheath. Made in the USA.

From the ESEE website about the designer: Reuben Bolieu is a writer, photographer, adventurer, and martial arts trainer (Muay Thai). He has spent more than 30 years hiking and backpacking through the wildernesses of California, Nevada, and Arizona, often with an air of extreme discipline towards his super Ultralight gear. He has traveled abroad in extreme environments, from the cold climate of Alaska and New Zealand to the desert heat of Egypt. Reuben continues studying primitive techniques in survival and the construction and uses of knives and edged tools from places such as the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and numerous countries in Asia. He has published many articles on knife use, Bushcraft, shelters, and remains a lifetime student of survival. Reuben is also an assistant instructor for Randall's Adventure & Training.

The Camp-Lore Series was developed to answer the demand for traditional, basic, bushcraft knives. The designers of this knife series come from unique backgrounds and experiences, with each considered to be one of the best in their field. All of the Camp-Lore knives are simple, traditional, fixed blade designs that have been field-proven for years. Keeping with that simplistic approach, ESEE builds the Camp-Lore line in the USA utilizing 1095 carbon steel blades and removable Micarta handles …. Each Camp-Lore knife comes with a USA made traditional pouch sheath using leather supplied by one of the oldest tanneries in North America.

Much better than expected. Perfect hiking and travel knife. Nice handle shape fits my hand better than the ESEE 3. Sheath is pretty good for a production one. I purchased a kydex sheath the same I ordered the knife, because I thought the leather one included would be a typical low quality one, but did not need to.
