The illustrated Cold Steel Knife is the Cold Steel GI Tanto that features a 7" tanto blade made of 1055 carbon steel, 4mm thick, with a non reflective black rust resistant finish. The GI Tanto has full tang construction with integral quillion guard, removable black Polypropylene handle scales and a lanyard hole. A black Secure-Ex sheath is included with this Cold Steel Knife. The Cold Steel GI Tanto has an overall length of 12", and it weighs 10.6 ounces.

THE GI TANTO, IS AN AWESOME BLADE FOR THE $$$$$$ SPENT VS. THE LEVEL OF PERFORMANCE IT DELIVERS !!!!! IT IS EASILY "CUSTOMIZED" TO THE OWNERS PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS. GRIP SLABS CAN BE REPLACED, BLADE & TANG CAN BE PAINTED ANY COLOR IMAGINABLE, GRIP TANG & SHEATH CAN BE WRAPPED WITH P-CORD, HAND GUARDS CAN BE RESHAPED WITH FILES & SANDPAPER, ETC. WITH IT'S TANTO POINT & SHARPENING THE TOP EDGE OF THE TIP, IT IS ONE AWESOME STABBER !!!! USING JUST THE "YAKOTE" TIP OF THE BLADE, SOME REALLY DEVASTATING "SNAP-CUTS" CAN BE INFLICTED USING JUST THE WRIST & FOREARM. YES, THE BLADE CAN RUST, BECAUSE IT IS CARBON-STEEL. HOWEVER, KEEPING THE BLADE COATED WITH A THIN LAYER OF PASTE FLOOR-WAX & DRYING IT WELL AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO WATER / SALTY-BODY FLUIDS, WILL HELP TO RETARD BOTH RUST & CORROSION. CAN ALSO BE USED FOR FOOD-PREP IN THE GALLEY & AT THE DINING TABLE. DOES NOT EXCEL @ WOOD BATONING OR BIG-GAME SHINNING, BUT IN A PINCH COULD CERTAINLY DO THESE TASKS----OOORAH & SEMPER FIDELIS !!!!!!!

The GI Tanto is sturdy and everything I expected . The only dislike I could honestly attest to is that after using the blade in the rain I dried it afterwards yet the sharpened edge of the blade still showed signs of rust pitting..(?)...

But overall for such a reasonable price a truly great blade.
