Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Knife - Sprint Run - 15V Blade - Brown FRN

The C101PBN15V Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight Knife is a limited Sprint Run edition that features a blade made of CPM 15V state-of-the-art particle metallurgy tool steel with an extremely high vanadium content. Its unique alloy composition offers superior wear resistance, a quality that translates to extreme sharpness and edge retention in knife blades. Sure to be a hit with users and collectors alike, this Manix 2 15V Sprint Run has a 3.37-inch drop point blade made of the aforementioned 15V steel, .125 inches thick, with a satin finish, full flat grind, notched choil and thumb ramp for secure grip, and the Spyderco hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. Consistent with the signature theme of this Sprint Run family, this model has a brown FRCP (fiberglass-reinforced co-polymer) handle, 4.66-inches closed, has full skeletonized stainless steel liners, sturdy Ball Bearing Lock, a large lanyard hole, and a side to side reversible wire clip mounted at the butt end. The Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight has an overall open length of 8.03-inches and it weighs 3.0 ounces. Limited quantities; made in the USA in Golden, Colorado.

Loving the 15V, but 07/18/2025

This is my third of the 15V releases, the steel and just as importantly the heat treat is excellent. Spyderco enlisted the help and supervision at the Colorado facility of custom knife maker Shawn Houston to implement his heat treat protocol on these 15V knives, and they bare his BBB logo on the blade. This resulted in a 15V variant with improved toughness and the optimum wear resistance it has when reaching 64-65 HRC which is not a given from many manufacturers especially in a production environment. It's also worth noting that this may be one of if not the only 15V that will be on any future knives other than the few sprint models left in this series. Crucible went bankrupt and it was purchased by a European steel company. 15V requires a very high temperature for smelting and is unlikely to be made again because it is so expensive to make, is a small niche steel, and the only one still made requiring this exorbitantly expensive process. Few chances left to own this amazing steel.

I'm so happy to have been able to get this iconic knife. I have its brother in grey Maxamet as well.
Between the two I may have to never sharpen a knife again! .
My 15V example is great in terms of blade centering, sharpness, bevel evenness, and action, with a nice detent and secure lockup.
The effort needed to disengage the lock is more than I would like, but is on par with every Manix I have handled. RIP Crucible..

One of the best representations of edc perfection and this company does a great job with customer service and communication. Manix is top three of Spyderco’s large list of options and 15v is definitely in top 3 super steels depending on what you’re looking for. It’s number one for me.

I wasn’t planing on getting this one but knowing 15v may be no more, and this being a Sprint run I decided to try and get one. Singed up for notifications, got an email and was able to snag it! Great knife backed by one of the industry’s secret mad man! BBB made this steel amazing!
