Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Raikiri Knife, CR-5040


The CRKT Raikiri Knife, designed by Dew Hara in Seki, Japan, is an eye catching everyday carry knife named after a Japanese sword that is said to have sliced a bolt of lightning in two. The Raikiri features a 3.759" modified Wharncliffe blade made of 1.4116 stainless steel, .134" thick, with a satin finish, a notched thumb rest for secure grip, triangular shaped hole detail, and a flipper for ambidextrous one hand opening. The cold forged black aluminum handle, 5.112" closed, has grooved contours for secure purchase, a liner lock, Ken Onion designed tool free Field Strip Technology, a large lanyard hole, and a deep carry metal pocket clip mounted at the butt end. The Raikiri Knife has an overall open length of 8.938", and it weighs 5.0 ounces.

Field Strip Technology: slide front release lever up, rotate release wheel clockwise to loosen, pull apart to clean - no tools required.

When I first saw Ken Onions Homefront I thought what an awesome idea. Having to actually take apart my knife after fishing or hunting is a pain. I never got around to buying one because the blade design didn't quiet do it for me. The second I saw this design from Dew Hara I knew I would get one right away. The knife does not disappoint. It is my favorite blade style/shape. The handle is a bit blocky but the knife functions beautifully. It opens and closes smoothly every time after every disassembly. The blade shape is perfect for just about all my uses and is a wicked self defense blade.

If my research is correct this knife has the longest blade in the Field Strip family from CRKT. It's wide and sharp and has a shape like no other. Keep mine in my pocket every day, plus, yep, Plus is right, just purchased the Monashee and Hunter Field Strip knives. Too good a price here at KNIVES Plus to pass up.
