Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Keydashi Knife, CR-2280
The illustrated CRKT knife is the CRKT Keydashi Knife, designed by Brazilian knifemaker Flavio Ikoma, that features a 2" skinner style fixed blade made of 1.4116 stainless steel, .062" thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 55-57. The blade of this CRKT knife has a non reflective bead blast finish and a notched thumb rest for precise control. The Keydashi Knife has full tang construction with textured dark green injection molded Zytel scales, and a lanyard hole with braided nylon fob. A stainless steel sheath plate with key ring is included with this CRKT Knife. The CRKT Keydashi Knife has an overall length of 3.75", and it weighs .8 ounce; 1.1 ounces with the sheath plate affixed.
From the CRKT website regarding the sheath plate: Most knives of this type use a locking Kydex or Zytel sheath, but Flavio came up with a stainless steel sheath plate that locks against the flat back side of the blade, safely sealing the blade edge. He used two studs which mate with holes and notches in the blade. To release the sheath plate, simply press the top of the plate with the thumb, and the knife is free to slide off the studs. There are no moving parts, no plastics to wear out with use, so it is simple and safe.
