Columbia River Knife and Tool: CRKT Amicus Knife, CR-5445

The illustrated CRKT Knife is the CRKT Amicus Knife, designed by Jesper Voxnaes, that features a 3.407" drop point blade made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, .154" thick, with a Rockwell hardness of 58-60. The blade of this CRKT knife has a satin finish and an oval hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The silver stonewashed stainless steel handle, 4.718" closed, has a sturdy frame lock and a notched back spacer with lanyard hole. An end to end reversible steel pocket clip is included with this CRKT Knife. The Amicus Knife has an overall open length of 8.125", and it weighs 6.7 ounces.

The knife is good overall. It is very smooth and is finished nicely (especially for CRKT). There are two small issues and one pretty big issue though. The blade is off center because the washers are different thicknesses, not a big deal for a budget knife. The edges of the jimping on the backspacer are pretty sharp and need to be chamfered or filleted. The big issue was the sharpening. The edge was crooked and uneven all the way down. The bevel was way too high on one side then almost non-existent on the other. This is fixable but it took a good bit of work to get there. Overall, this is a decent budget knife will potential to be great is the details start getting more attention from the factory.

A Voxnaes design beaut. The lines are smooth and flowing as is the action with deployment and closure. The hand feel is comfortable and secure with both bare and gloved R or L hands. Lockup is solid.
Unexpected high quality at a bargain price.
