Awesome steel10/03/2025 ByRebecca Dolph Gutted and sinned a gemsbok and it’ll still shave hair! That’s what I call holding an edge! Mainx 2 isn’t quite my ideal hunting knife, but I’m super happy with it all around. I don’t find the lock to be too hard to manipulate, as some reviews that I had read. I would call it positive. I’m also not the biggest fan of the looks of the lightweight series, but it is a really nice knife. Someday it may get the gift of aftermarket scales. For now, it’s my new favorite. What a shame that 15v won’t be available anymore. I highly recommend getting some while you can if you want awesome edge holding and reasonable toughness.

BBB 15V07/20/2025 ByGerald Brees I'm so happy to have been able to get this iconic knife. I have its brother in grey Maxamet as well. Between the two I may have to never sharpen a knife again! . My 15V example is great in terms of blade centering, sharpness, bevel evenness, and action, with a nice detent and secure lockup. The effort needed to disengage the lock is more than I would like, but is on par with every Manix I have handled. RIP Crucible.. Thanks to Knives Plus for their email notification of availability and very fast shipping.

Loving the 15V, but07/18/2025 ByProfessor Sharp This is my third of the 15V releases, the steel and just as importantly the heat treat is excellent. Spyderco enlisted the help and supervision at the Colorado facility of custom knife maker Shawn Houston to implement his heat treat protocol on these 15V knives, and they bare his BBB logo on the blade. This resulted in a 15V variant with improved toughness and the optimum wear resistance it has when reaching 64-65 HRC which is not a given from many manufacturers especially in a production environment. It's also worth noting that this may be one of if not the only 15V that will be on any future knives other than the few sprint models left in this series. Crucible went bankrupt and it was purchased by a European steel company. 15V requires a very high temperature for smelting and is unlikely to be made again because it is so expensive to make, is a small niche steel, and the only one still made requiring this exorbitantly expensive process. Few chances left to own this amazing steel.

Manix is top three of Spyderco’s large list of options and 15v is definitely in top 3 super steels depending on what you’re looking for. It’s number one for me.
