MODIFIED Spyderco Para 3 Knife with Acid Stonewash + KP Titanium Scales MAYHEM FINISH

This knife arrived finely tuned and ready for use, sharp as a razor, and twice as appealing in person as in pictures. The Mayhem scales provide excellent hand purchase and heft, but not to the point the knife tears up pockets or carries like a small brick. Unlike the original scales, pocket abrasion is minimized with the Mayhem scales. So, pocket storage and retrieval are smoother, making it more pleasurable to carry.

I chose the original customized scheme which resembles the thumbprint shot. The original hardware pares well with Mayhem scales, but I can see where bronzed hardware adds visual appeal. If you’re on the fence as I was originally, go for it.

As custom knives go, I highly recommend this selection. For those who favor the added size of the Paramilitary 2, you won’t go wrong with the Mayhem version of that knife either. KnivesPlus’ customizing is top notch.

This was my first purchase from KP and hopefully won’t be my last! From initial web browsing, to checkout, shipping and receiving my custom Para 3, everything went really well. Shipping was fast and the knife exceeded my expectations. Not knowing what colors I would get with the mayhem scales I was half prepared to get something I wouldn’t like. When I got it I was blown away at how great the colors looked and the bronze heat-colored hardware really sets it off. It would have been nice if the LNW clip I wanted was in stock (I got it from LNW instead, so no sweat). I also would prefer that the scales would only be drilled for the clip position I use, but also not that big of a deal. The acid stonewashed blade looks great! It was a little chalky at first, but went away after cleaning and a light coat of oil. Out of the packaging, the blade centering, pivot and lock action were flawless. Altogether I am very pleased. The custom knife shop did not disappoint! I got the para 3 with these crazy anodized scales and the bronze hardware. It’s very beautiful pictures don’t do the knife justice. Came decently sharp, but the action was disappointing. I’m not sure if it’s from the customizing or if I just got a bad knife, but the detent is so weak the knife only half deploys often. Spider flicking is impossible without wrist. This is by no means my first spyderco, but it’s the first one I’ve ever had that has bad deployment

Mayhem finish is very dark 01/25/2021

The Mayhem finish on the scales is VERY dark. On the website the mayhem finish has a bright blue, orange, & copper finish. When mine arrived I was very disappointed with how dark it was. Not like the photos at all.

I received this knife as a gift (super early Valentine's day present) and I can honestly say that the pictures don't do this knife justice. The finish on the blade and titanium scales is absolutely beautiful and the added bronze titanium screws bring the whole package together (she paid extra for those). The knife came razor sharp out of the box and the blade opens and closes freely just with gravity. I was worried that the titanium scales would make the knife feel slick (I usually prefer micarta or G10), but that was not the case. There is a very secure purchase on the handle and doesn't feel slick at all. This knife easily became one of my favorites in my collection and I will have it in my carry rotation regularly. Great knife!

Love the knife, it is razor sharp. However the mayhem finish was a bit underwhelming, from the pictures on the site I figured it would be a lot more dark blue like the pictures shown. Mine is much more green and a little orange. So the colors are disappointing
