KA-BAR Knives: KABAR 120th Anniversary Commemorative Knife, US Navy Version, KA-9192

This KA-BAR Fighting / Utility Knife celebrates KA-BAR's 120 year milestone with a special Victorian era style anniversary logo etch and a KA-BAR / USN tang stamp. The KA-BAR 120th Anniversary Commemorative features a 7.0" 1095 Cro-Van steel clip point fixed blade with a swedged tip, a fuller and a non reflective black finish. The traditional stacked leather washer handle has grooves and a carbon steel guard for secure grip, and a powder coated metal butt cap. A genuine leather sheath with USN embossment is included. The KABAR Fighting / Utility Knife has an overall length of 11.875", and it weighs .70 pounds. Made in the USA.

From KA-BAR regarding the special engraved logo: The engraved logo features the historical "The Union" logo from the early 1900s, a bear, and the years marking 120 years - 1898 and 2018.

The significance of the bear is in the KA-BAR name itself. An Alaskan hunter was attacked by a Kodiak bear, but successfully defended himself using his Union Cutlery knife. The hunter was so thankful that he sent a letter describing the ordeal with "K a Bar" (Kill a Bear) as well as sending in the bear fur. The officers of Union Cutlery decided to adopt KA-BAR as a trademark in 1924.
