Helicopter Mechanic since 78. Thought I was buying a novelty gift knife(assisted steel bod 2.3") for my daughter. I was thoroughly impressed. This is now the 4th squid. I wanted this XM because it's the longest blade available. Don't like the plastic. The assist spring grinds on the side, and makes a creaking noise when stowing blade. Spring steel against G10 is a foregone conclusion. Still love the unassuming yet functional blade. I have carried 2 variants of the m16 over 20yrs & have not purchased a new knife for me till now. This knife with a 4in blade and serrations would definitely get the attention of EMS flight crews. Loose the plastic, weight is not always a bad thing especially to a gloved hand.
