I carried an XM-18 3.5 (Gen 4) for well over a decade, so I’m very familiar with the platform. Finally picked up a Gen 6 in the Harpoon Spanto and it absolutely lives up to the reputation.

Pros:
• Outstanding build quality and fit/finish
• Excellent ergonomics (the 3.5 handle just works)
• Rock-solid lockup and strong, confidence-inspiring detent
• Tri-Way pivot lets you tune the action exactly how you like it
• Harpoon Spanto blade is robust with a reinforced tip
• Factory edge was impressively sharp and cuts well given the blade thickness
• MagnaCut steel adds excellent toughness and corrosion resistance

Cons:
• Heavier than many modern EDC knives
• Premium price point

I just received my Hinderer XM-18 3.5 and couldn’t be happier. Shipping was fast, communication was great, and the knife arrived exactly as described.

I had actually been searching for this configuration for a long time—the translucent G10 scale with the MagnaCut blade—and Knives Plus was the only place I could find it available.

This is my fourth XM-18 over the years, and it’s easily the best one I’ve owned. The action is smooth, the fit and finish are outstanding, and it immediately became my new EDC.
