XIKAR Knives-It all started in 1994 with a quest for a good cigar cutter: he couldn't find one, so he made one. Kurt Van Keppel and Scott Almsberger designed the Xi Cutter cigar cutter in 1996, assembled the prototypes in Kurt's garage in 1997, and made the first mass production run in 1998. In 2002, XIKAR added slim, lightweight gentlemen's knives to the product line; and in 2003, the Extreme line of high tech folding knives.The Elan Knife, from XIKAR Knives, is an elegant, lightweight gentleman's knife. It features a 1.93" blade made of AUS8 stainless steel that is .07" thick, with a nail slot for easy opening. The polished stainless steel handle is a mere 2.72" closed, and has a sturdy frame lock. The overall open length is 4.64", and the weight is only 1 ounce. The Elan XIKAR knife is available with Abalone, Burl, Carbon Fiber, or genuine Mother of Pearl handle scales.
Illustrated Elan knife set is a limited run with handle scales of figured Chinese Quince Wood, and a matching pen.
