United Cutlery: United Cutlery Knife Accessories The United Cutlery Knife Accessories includes knife storage solutions such as Knife Roll, Knife Cases, and Display Cases. Also included are knife care and cleaning accessories such as Metal Glo and Blade Eraser. The Knife Roll is an imitation leather carrying case with red felt lined interior, and elastic straps that will store over 50 knives of various sizes. The Knife Storage Case is an imitation leather storage case with zipper closure, red felt lined interior and elastic straps. The Knife Storage Cases are available in two sizes, for carrying 15 or 40 knives. The Knife Display Cases are made of solid wood and glass, with magnet closure. The Medium, Large and Extra Large Display Cases have three exchangeable felt topped foam inserts. Just remove or add the inserts to display knives of different sizes. Metal Glo is a premium quality polishing paste that will clean and polish any metal surface. Editor's note: If you have brass bolsters or old carbon steel blade knives, you are eventually going to have some tarnish or rust spots that you will want to remove. The best way to use this stuff is to take a paper towel, fold it in half , then fold it in half again. Take the resulting square and roll tightly into a tube. Cut the resulting tube into 3 pieces and you now have 3 handy applicators. I call them "stimplers". They should be about 2" long and about 1/2" in diameter. Squeeze out about a 1/4"-1/2" glob of Metal Glo on a table or work surface and dab the stimpler into the goo. Your fingers should be about 1" above the base of the stimpler and should supply a firm but resilient pressure for hard rubbing on blades. The stimpler keeps your fingers above the blade edge for safety. Use with caution on blade etches! Blade Eraser will erase rust and tarnish on metal surfaces. Editor's note: A Blade Eraser is basically a rubber eraser combined with a mild abrasive. Use when Metal Glo isn’t quite abrasive enough. These babies will take light to heavy rust off older blades or tune up a brass bolster that has grown deep green tarnish. I will usually cut these at a hard diagonal, giving me two erasers with one long taper each. I will use this long taper to clean up knife blades where the tang stamps and pattern numbers are close to the bolsters. As the Blade Eraser clogs up, take a razor blade and cut just a small sliver off the surface. This will expose fresh abrasive, giving a quick clean cut. Be aware that lubricants and oil will clog the surface of these erasers quickly; be sure to degrease the surface of your knife before using. If you look for old knives, these will clean a rusty old tang stamp very quickly for field identification in a flea market or garage sale. I used these for years to clean and touch up old rusty knives that I found in Gun Shows, Flea Markets, and Garage Sales. Use the Blade Eraser for heavy tarnish and finish up with Metal Glo for a finish polish.
