Spyderco Knives: Spyderco Salt I, Serrated Black Blade and Black Handle, SP-C88SBBK

The illustrated Spyderco Knife is the Spyderco Salt I Knife that features a 3.03" serrated blade made of H-1 steel, .098" thick. The blade of this Spyderco knife has a non reflective black (TiCN) titanium carbonitride coat, a hollow grind, a notched thumb ramp and the Spyderco hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The black (FRN) fiberglass reinforced nylon handle, 3.99" closed, has Volcano Grip Texturing for secure grip and a Boye Dent lockback. A side to side reversible steel pocket clip is mounted at the butt end of this Spyderco Knife. The Spyderco Salt I Knife handle has an overall open length of 7.02" and it weighs 2.0 ounces. Made in Japan.

The Spyderco Salt I Knife has a blade made out of a PH (precipitation hardened) steel that doesn't rust. H1 steel is naturally hard, and it will hold a sharpened cutting edge equivalent to many carbon steels. H1 has 1 percent nitrogen instead of carbon, so it cannot rust.

I'll keep it brief. Big spyderco fan, own more than I need. Also fan of the overall SALT series. Like many others I find the H1 steel too soft in plain edge but love it in serrated. I own other knives in the SALT series but this is my first SALT 1 and have found I love the blade shape. To me it seems like a cross between sheepsfoot and drop point, a "sheepspoint" so to speak and I really like it so far. As with others in the SALT series it's super light and much stronger than you'd think it would be. It will not disappoint.
