The illustrated Spyderco Knife is the Spyderco Barong Knife, designed by Ed Schempp, that features a 4" leaf shaped blade made of VG10 stainless steel. The blade of this Spyderco knife has a Spyderco hole for ambidextrous one hand opening. The foliage green G10 handle, 4 15/16" closed, has full length skeletonized stainless steel liners, Michael Walker Liner Lock and a lanyard hole. A side to side reversible metal pocket clip is mounted at the butt end of this Spyderco knife. The Spyderco Barong Knife has an overall open length of 8 7/8" and weighs 4.4 ounces.
From the Spyderco Product Guide: Barongs (sometimes referred to as Barungs) are short, wide leaf-shaped blades indigenous to the Moro Filipino people. Thick, curving belly angles downward, aligning the cutting edge with the wrist. Pronounced spine-cusp and choil indent give great control over the wide and stable blade for controlling vegetation and personal safety. Our stylized version has a curved hilt which wraps itself around the small finger laying the foundation for dexterous control over the big blade.
