The illustrated Silver Stag Knife is the Silver Stag Mountain Edge Knife that features a 5.25" upswept fixed blade made of D2 steel. The Mountain Edge Knife has an antler crown handle with metal guard. A high quality leather sheath is included with this Silver Stag knife. The Silver Stag Mountain Edge Knife has an approximate overall length of 11". Made in the USA.
From the Silver Stag website: D2 steel is an air hardening, high carbon, and high chromium tool steel possessing extremely high wear resisting properties. D2 steel is commonly used in the machining industries to manufacture dies and punches that repeatedly cut other materials. D2 Steel is extremely tough and durable! The high chromium content provides good corrosion resistance, (but it can and will rust if it is not properly taken care of). The blades are heat treated to a 62 Rockwell hardness and are guaranteed to retain their factory edge for extended periods of heavy use. When it does come time to re-sharpen, the blades will hone to a razor edge. In our professional opinion, there is nothing better than D2 steel.
All antler handles will vary in coloration and surface character, which is part of the uniqueness of natural handle materials.
