Cold Steel Knives: Cold Steel Sword Cane, Heavy Duty, CS-88SCFD

The illustrated Sword Cane is the Heavy Duty Cold Steel Sword Cane that features a 24 1/4" blade made of 420 stainless steel, 5.5mm thick, with one long cutting edge, a strong sharp point and a fully sharpened top swedge. The partial crook grip of this sword cane is made of heavy duty nylon. The shaft, made of heat treated black aluminum, 1mm thick, has a thick rubber ferrule for excellent traction, and can be used as a weak hand parrying tool or an emergency bludgeon. The Heavy Duty Cold Steel Sword Cane has an overall length of 37 1/2" and weighs 29.6 ounces.

My Doctor recently told me to start using a cane to maintain my balance and aid my walking as I have a chronic back injury. I also have to operate in locations quite frequently where I cannot carry my concealed carry handgun. I was loath to be unarmed and this piece of gear interested me. Upon unpacking and examining it in detail I have been very impressed with its quality of workmanship and features. It has a very nice blade/sword constructed of high quality steel that is sharp and well balanced. The cane itself is constructed of very substantial aluminum and can also be used weapon. It has exceeded my expectations.
However, it was too long for my usage and I needed to fit it to me. There are no instructions for doing that from the builders. If you need to fit it to yourself, remove metal from the upper end of the cane not, repeat not from the tip. The tip end is tapered and if you remove metal there the rubber tip and the long rubber insert blade protector and vibration dampener will

Very pleased with the quality of this Cold Steel product. This Heavy Duty Cane Sword is aptly named and described. This is not a novelty cane sword or just a short cane sword designed to be used for only stabbing/piercing techniques. I live in Texas and am now allowed to legally carry a sword. I am handicapped and at times depend on a cane for mobility. This cane sword is practical for supporting my weight (250 lbs) while rising up to stand, lowering myself to sit, walking, and climbing stairs. The design and weight of the sword instills confidence that you are handling a true weapon, and not just a wanna-be novelty item. Stabbing/piercing techniques are very ergonomic and effortlessly accurate using the cane handle. By grabbing the cane shaft by the o-ring areas, very strong sword techniques are easy to perform. As advertised, the aluminum tubing sheath can be used as a primary weapon or to support your sword techniques. I am very pleased with this cane sword and highly recommend it.

Very sturdy construction, a working edge on the blade. If you’re using it as a cane and are shorter than 5’3” you may need to alter the blade length, I don’t believe you’ll be able to cut the total height of the cane less than 33” without alteration. For cutting the aluminum section, I’d suggest a hacksaw or pipe cutter on the bottom portion, after removing the rubber cup. There’s a bit of blade rattle in the fitment of the blade tang and cane handle, but it doesn’t detract from the utility of the sword. Cane handle is a bit slippery, I’ll eventually fix that with a some grip tape and may thin the Grivory handle with a Dremel or rasp and file. Due to the design, the balance is off, but this weapon wasn’t created for fencing sessions. Eventually I’ll buff out the interior of the aluminum pipe section where the cane handle and washers lock into, because there’s a bit of overspray that causes a little drag as you open it. A great cane. 4 Stars. As everyone else says, bad odors emanating from: The glue and plastic that holds the tip, and holds, and is part of, the anti rattle piece in the cane. If you have and know how to use tools... or have a friend that you trust does,.... Step 1: Google cane fitment or sizing to know what length your cane should be for you. Step 2: Cut cane to desired length at the bottom of cane, ( use a plumbers tubing cutter for a nice, smooth, and straight cut), and drill or chip out any remaining plastic in the bottom of the cane. Clean up with Lysol spray, bleach, brake cleaner, or whatever to eliminate residual odor. Step 3: Buy a new 1" rubber tip, Local drug store or on line. Buy a shower rod sleeve at Lowes or Home Depot, cut into 1' pieces, drop a couple in, slide the tip on, and now.... the 4 star cane just became a 5 star. Very sharp and nicely made. Just a bit of owner toil to bring it up to snuff. Worth it in my opinion.

I just received the Cold Steel Sword Cane, Heavy Duty, CS-88SCFD as a gift today from a friend that knew I have been looking at it for awhile now. This sword cane is flawless both as a cane and as a sword. It does not rattle like most sword canes do, It is the definition of discrete as you can not tell looking at it that it is really a sword. it is solid and will easily support my weight (and I'm not a small guy) Some comments say that it has a strong pungent smell at first, Cold Steel has apparently fixed this issue other than a light coat of oil on the blade that wiped right off with a rag the blade was perfect, razor sharp and did NOT have a bad smell at all! The fact that I got this as a gift has entirely made my Christmas this year!! I still plan on buying one as I was going to anyway, but now I plan on giving it to someone else that needs one and maybe it will make their day just as it has mine!!
