My staff and I have been experimenting with White Lightning for about a year or so here in the Knives Plus® Shop. In our shop we repair, sharpen, recondition, and rebuild local customer's knives (sorry, this service is not available to Internet/Mailorder customers). The process involves sharpening, checking and tightening all screws, blowing out the internal areas, and lubrication of the blade pivot hinge. We have used many different lubricants, but we are gradually beginning to think that Buck White Lightning Wax Lubricant may become our lubrication of choice for most lubrication needs. It works well on all types of knives. It's not an oil, but a thin wax. When dry, it won't attract dust and lint, and it forms a low friction surface that lubricates without oil.
It is also a good way to put a protective barrier on handle or blade finishes that fingerprint badly. Clean thoroughly and then polish with White Lightning. It seems to work pretty well. Be sure to shake well before application.
